The Met Office may not have made it abundantly clear but the Hottest 20 years ever recorded in The British Isles have all been in the last 22 years, with the last 4 years all being the hottest of all. Companies like Unilever make soothing statements about how they’re going to reduce plastic by 50% over the next ten years or so, but a lot of people are beginning to think that within the next 10 weeks may be more appropriate. Mark Bick, local lay reader and coordinator of the climate emergency drop-in centre in Coleford has organised a meeting tomorrow Thursday 10th October at The Main Place, Old Station Way, As Mark observes “Our local district council recently declared a Climate Emergency and I know that many people around Forest of Dean share the view that it’s a real emergency which needs our action. As a parent I started talking to other mums and dads at local baby groups and we decided we could do something together. We want to give our community the chance to ask questions, share their views and hopefully take away some tips on how to reduce their own carbon footprint.”

Our own Di Martin will make a presentation aimed at briefing everybody about realisitic actions they can take in The Forest of Dean. It should be quite an event and you can contact the admirable Mark Bick through the Coleford Climate Emergency Facebook Page
