At the February meeting the Cinderford branch of the Forest of Dean Labour party passed the motion in support of the promotion of plant based diets to help in the urgent fight against climate change. The full text below.

Cinderford and Mid-Dean Labour Party acknowledges the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions to protect our planet and to meet the international commitments which the UK has undertaken. The growing popularity of plant-based diets is one important factor in meeting these commitments.

We support the campaign for councils to use their positions as public influencers, employers and, where relevant, LEAs to encourage residents to consider reducing their consumption of food of animal origin.

We ask Labour Councillors representing Cinderford and Mid-Dean to raise the issue within their Labour Groups and councils.

A copy of this motion will be sent to all branch Labour Parties in Gloucestershire, all Gloucestershire Labour County Councillors and all Forest of Dean District Labour Councillors.
