The Cinderford branch are starting a road safety campaign for the Forest of Dean.
The two proposed main points are
1. Limit the speed limit on all roads to 40mph where there is forest covering.
2. On residential streets limit the speed limit to 20mph.

It appears to mainly relate to deaths of animals as below:
In 1990 a uniform 40 mph speed limit was put in place on all New Forest roads, apart from the fenced major A-roads. This has had the most significant effect on reducing animal deaths, with annual accident statistics being slashed compared to pre-40 mph limit years.
