Motion on insulation
Cinderford and mid-Dean Labour party notes that at the COP26 summit, the UK committed to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions by at least 68% by 2030 in comparison to 1990 levels. We further note that the increase in heating costs is worsening the hardship experienced by millions of people around the country.

Standards of energy-efficiency for homes in the UK compare poorly with the rest of the developed world. A programme of insulation to bring all homes up to a high standard of efficiency will help fulfil the promises made at COP26 at the same time as saving hundreds of pounds each year for a typical household, protecting the most vulnerable from the impact of fuel poverty and reducing the medical impact of poorly heated homes. We call for all homes in the country to be insulated to a high standard, with insulation provided free of charge to all homes in a neighbourhood by neighbourhood programme, starting with the least affluent areas.

Cinderford and mid-Dean Labour Party supports as a minimum the existing national Labour Party policy of bringing all homes up to an energy efficiency standard of at least EPCBand C.We ask the Parliamentary Labour Party to actively promote this policy, proposing appropriate legislation and using extensive publicity and campaigning work to bring pressure on the Government to accept the passage of this legislation into law.

This motion will be sent to Keir Starmer and Ed Milliband.
